Whole Person and Population Modeling

Stuart is a postdoctoral fellow in the Felsky lab, who is using linear modeling, and differential expression analysis to identify transcriptomic signatures associated with the overall burden of depressive symptoms in late-life. Stuart has discovered that PWAR1 and CTDSPL2 trascription is significantly associated with depressive burden in late-life. Even more interesting, upon stratification by sex Stuart has found that a multi-gene transcriptomic signature is associated with late-iife depressive burden in males but not females. With this work now submitted for publication, Stuart is seeking to explore these relationships even more deeply. consdiering whether transcriptomic signatures are associated with subsets of the depressive symptoms that collectively comprise the overall depressive burden.

Beyond research, Stuart is also an academically trained high school Science educator, an experienced student mentor, and a vocal advocate on behalf of the blind, himself being visually impaired. For fun, Stuart sings with the A Cappella pop choir SoundCrowd, and is an amateur vocal percussionist, vocal instrumentalist, and live looper. Stuart is also a long distance runner, having completed multiple marathons and half-marathons, and one triathlon. Most importantly, Stuart is loving dad for Grace, musician, scientist, and advocate in her own right who seeks daily to bring joy, justice, and light to the world around her, and give love to every canine she meets along the way.
